While I was standing in line, I saw a woman with a rainbow heart printed on her belly. I immediately understood what it meant. She had experienced a miscarriage, and now she was expecting a “rainbow baby”—a baby born after a loss. As she walked past me, I couldn’t help but tell her how much I loved her shirt. She shared that her husband was unsure about her wearing it because people might not understand the meaning. I told her how important it is to talk about miscarriages and that I admired her for wearing it.
We ended up sharing our stories with each other, and after a heartfelt hug, we promised to keep each other in our prayers—me for her baby’s health and her for me to be able to conceive. I asked if I could take a picture, but realized I had left my phone in the car. She kindly handed me her phone and sent me the picture.
She’s such a beautiful woman and an amazing mom! A complete stranger who made my day so special. Thank you, Autumn, for brightening mine and my husband’s day!
