When I was a kid

0

When I was a kid, I brought home a boy who had nowhere to go. His mother had abandoned him while he was away at school.

When the school year ended and he returned home, he found the house empty. There was no note, no phone number, no relatives to call—nothing. So he sat alone in a park, in the rain, not knowing what to do or where to go.

That’s where I found him. I brought him home with me and introduced him to my mom. Without a moment’s hesitation, she welcomed him in as if he were her own child.

Now, 24 years later, he is still a part of our family. My mom loves him just like she loves the rest of her children, and she is a wonderful grandmother to all her grandchildren—including his.

The photo you see is of him and my mom, taken just last week at her daughter’s graduation. It’s a reminder of the bond they share, a bond that began with compassion and has grown into a lifelong family connection.
