Not said to all of the passengers, but to my mother.
She was flying to see me in Arizona, at the young age of 103 years old. We had notified the airline, made sure she had wheelchairs to and from the airplane, and got her a first class seat so she could easily get on and off. When she got on the plane, they treated her like a queen. As she was first on, the pilot had time to come and sit next to her and visit a bit (mostly about her experience as a WWII Navy aircraft machinist’s mate). She asked him if he needed any help flying the plane, and he just smiled and said that she had worked hard all her life, and now it was her turn to sit back and enjoy the ride! Then, he said, “want to see the cockpit”? And that sweet man led her up to the cockpit, and she climbed right into the pilot’s seat! My sweet Tippy … she was one of a kind.
