These are the Parkin twins, Winter and Fox, of Plymouth Devon, England. They have never spent a moment apart.
Last year, Fox got tonsillitis. He was taken to the doctor and given some antibiotics.
But the medication didn’t help. On Christmas Day, dad noticed a rash on his son’s legs. Back to the doctor went Fox, and then off to the hospital for some tests.
The results were devastating. A rare form of cancerous melanoma had begun eating away at Fox’s tiny body. Fox had to go to the hospital immediately in order to receive chemo and radiation treatments.
Bombarded with constant infections, the little boy’s immune system became virtually non-existent. Faced with this dilemma, almost no one can visit Fox in the hospital, including his twin sister, Winter. For the first times in their lives, they will be apart as Fox faces months of painful chemo and radiation. This picture was their last taken together as they parted with a kiss at the hospital.
