What a week it has been.

What a week it has been.
Last Tuesday, I woke up feeling really unwell. At first, I was just frustrated, thinking my C-section recovery was taking much longer than it did last time. But by the evening, I knew something was seriously wrong.

It turned out that I had endometritis (which is different from endometriosis). It’s an infection of the uterus, and it explained why I had been feeling so sick. The hospital staff were incredible — they immediately saw how unwell I was, started treatment right away, and I ended up spending three nights there receiving IV antibiotics, blood tests, and scans to make sure there wasn’t any retained tissue causing the infection.

Thankfully, my hospital allows mothers and babies to stay together, so little Fenna was able to stay with me the entire time.

I’m back home now and feeling much better, although I am a bit upset with myself for not noticing the signs sooner. Please take this as a reminder: if something doesn’t feel right during pregnancy or after giving birth, get checked immediately. The risk of infection is higher after a C-section, but it can happen after any kind of birth — so stay aware and trust your instincts.

I’m feeling very grateful for my parents, who took care of Oryn at home while I was in the hospital, and for living in a country where I have access to free and excellent medical care.
