THIS BOY!
A couple of weeks ago, I was feeling emotional, and Carson walked in and asked what was wrong. I read him a Facebook post about a mother of a 16-year-old girl with special needs who was looking for a date for her daughter’s school prom. Without hesitation, he said, “Mom, I’ll do it!”
And he did. The day before the prom, we visited Izzie to decorate her room and let her meet Carson. Then, he took her to prom, where she was crowned Duchess. Afterward, he spent over an hour in her room just watching cartoons with her. This boy has such a tender heart!
Izzie is a sweet girl—she’s non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, has a feeding tube, and doesn’t communicate much. But there were a few special moments when her eyes met Carson’s, and she lit up like fireworks on the 4th of July. And so did he.
We are all much more alike than we are different. In a world full of choices, choose kindness.
Just a little story about a boy I am so proud to call my son. He inspires me to be better and do better every day.
