There’s an elderly lady who lives next door to me. She lives alone and has some difficulty getting around, so I try to help her whenever I can—usually by mowing her lawn or checking in on her.
Today, I went over and asked if she had eaten dinner yet. She said she hadn’t. I asked what she was planning to have, and she told me she would probably just make herself a hot dog. I told her to wait a moment and asked if I could borrow a plate. She agreed.
I went back to my house, prepared a nice dinner for her, and brought it over on the plate. When she saw it, she gave me the biggest smile, and her eyes lit up. Seeing her so happy made me feel really good.
Later that evening, she sent me a message thanking me for the dinner. She said it tasted great and that it truly made her night. And honestly, hearing that made my night too.
