Dr. Amanda Hess was 9 months pregnant and in the hospital to have her own baby. She was getting ready to be induced because of some complications.
As she was putting on her hospital gown, she heard that another woman nearby was in trouble — her baby was in distress and needed to be delivered immediately. But that woman’s doctor hadn’t arrived yet.
Even though Dr. Hess was about to have her own baby, she didn’t wait. She quickly put on another gown to cover herself, slipped big hospital boots over her flip-flops, and went straight to help.
She safely delivered the other woman’s baby — and then, just about an hour later, she gave birth to her own healthy baby girl.
