Searching for My Birth Family — My Name Is Amanda

0

In February 1992, a baby girl was born in Texas.
A month later, she was placed for adoption through the Catholic Family Charities adoption agency in Amarillo. That baby… was me.

My adoptive parents named me Amanda Scovin, and they gave me a warm, loving home. Growing up, I always knew I was adopted. It was never a secret — it was simply part of who I was.

But as the years went by, a quiet curiosity began to grow in me.
I started to wonder about the people who brought me into this world.
Do I look like my birth mother?
Do I have my father’s eyes?
Are there brothers or sisters out there who might share my smile, or even the same laugh?

Now, at 33 years old, those questions feel heavier. It’s not about asking why I was adopted — I understand that life can be complicated, and I have nothing but respect for whatever circumstances led to that decision.

What I’m really looking for is connection — even just a small piece of my story that’s been missing all these years.

From what I’ve learned, my birth name was Moriah, and I think my last name might have been Wagner, though I’m not completely sure.
I was born in February 1992, and placed for adoption through Catholic Family Charities in Amarillo, Texas when I was about one month old.

I don’t have any photos from right after I was born, but I do have one from when I was just a little girl — the youngest picture I have of myself. I often look at it and wonder what my birth parents looked like back then. Did they ever think of me on my birthdays? Did they ever wonder how I turned out?

So, I’m sharing this message with an open heart, hoping it reaches someone — maybe a relative, a friend, or even someone who remembers hearing about a baby named Moriah born in early 1992 and placed for adoption in Amarillo.

If you recognize anything about my story — a name, a date, a memory — please reach out. Even the smallest clue could mean the world to me.

Thank you for reading this, and for helping me on this journey to find the missing pieces of where I came from.

Amanda Scovin (born Moriah, February 1992)
