On April 12, Kyle Semrau

On April 12, Kyle Semrau, a father of two from Eliot, Maine, returned home after working an overnight shift. He was feeling light-headed, so he decided to rest the next day. His two children — 4-year-old Caleb and 6-year-old Macie — stayed close by, spending the day with him.

At some point, Kyle went down to the basement, but suddenly collapsed due to a serious health problem. He was barely able to stay conscious. Hearing her dad scream, little Macie immediately rushed downstairs to see what was wrong.

Realizing that her father needed urgent help, Macie stayed calm. While Kyle was still awake, she managed to get his phone passcode. After unlocking the phone, she opened the browser, typed “Eliot police”, and found the number to call for help.

Thanks to her quick thinking, police arrived at the house within just two minutes. They provided the emergency assistance Kyle needed and rushed him to the hospital.

Later, Kyle said that Macie saved his life. He proudly called her his hero — and said she will always be his hero.
