In the early morning of October 6, 1995, 15-year-old Nicole Vanden Hurk disappeared on her way to work in Eindhoven, a city in the Netherlands. Her body was found six weeks later, she had been ɍậpḛd and m̃urdḛred.

Every effort by the investigators to solve the gruesome crime proved abortive. The case was subsequently declared cold and abandoned. But Nicole’s stepbrother, Andy Vanden Hurk, never had any closure; he desperately wanted justice.

In 2011, Andy took to his Facebook page to confess to the crime. He was arrested, but it quickly became clear that his confession was a hoax. However, he achieved his goal of rekindling interest in the case.

The case was re-opened with new investigators assigned, and Nicole’s body was exhumed for DNA extraction. Luckily, they got a match, a man they called De Ge. On January 14, 2014, the suspect was arrested.

On October 9 of the same year, he was given a twelve-year prison sentence for the ɍậpḛ and m̃urdḛr of Nicole Van den Hurk.
