I was driving to the post office

1

I was driving to the post office when I noticed a house with a small table set up on the sidewalk. A simple sign on the table read “FREE.” Curious, I turned my car around, parked, and walked over to the family sitting beside it.

As I approached, a young man looked up and asked if I needed a meal. That’s when I realized the entire table was filled with neatly prepared meals. I told him, “No, thank you,” but I couldn’t help asking what they were doing. To my surprise, I suddenly felt emotional.

A woman sitting behind the table smiled and explained that they often prepare meals to give away every Sunday. Their kindness touched me deeply. I felt a little awkward, but I managed to thank them sincerely for what they were doing. I even tried to offer them some money, but the woman gently refused.

I’m still not entirely sure why I felt compelled to stop and talk to them, but I do know one thing: their act of kindness will stay with me. It reminded me that there is still so much good in the world—especially during times like these.
