I am very uncomfortable with a camera my mother installed in my bedroom (installed after I snuck out at age 10) and a recent camera she placed in the bathroom, because I was masturbating/smoking weed and sleeping naked due to heat.
- Bedroom Camera History: My stepdad (Jesse) used the bedroom camera to watch me and enforce extreme physical punishment and rules (e.g., exercise, no leaving room without permission). I was once punished by kneeling on rice with a water case over my head after bc I left the room bc I had to go the bathroom leaving without permission.
- Reporting: My therapist knew about the bedroom camera and called DCFS, but nothing changed. I recently told my social worker about the cameras and still, nothing has happened.
- Bathroom Camera: My mother put a camera in the bathroom about a 1 year half ago. There was a curtain b4 but she took it down, but she repositioned it so it can see everything. I recently decided to put up towels to cover the shower.
- My Dad’s Stance: My bio-dad (who I’m close with) is strongly against both cameras, especially the one in the bathroom, calling it “unnecessary” and “weird,” but feels he can’t directly remove them.
- My Concern: I feel this is illegal surveillance in a private area, and despite reporting it, I need help figuring out my next steps.
