Today, I was standing in line at the post office when a middle-aged worker who was helping customers turned to me and said, “Do you mind if I ask you a question?”
I quickly guessed he was probably going to ask about my birthmark — because that’s what most strangers ask me about. I smiled and said, “Sure.”
But instead of asking me a question, he surprised me. With a warm smile, he said,
“My daughter has the same birthmark as you. And my niece has one too. I know people can be unkind about birthmarks like yours, but just ignore them. You are beautiful.”
For a moment, I was speechless. I wasn’t expecting kindness — I was expecting curiosity. His words touched my heart.
It’s not every day that someone takes the time to speak encouragement into a stranger’s life, especially about something that people often stare at or whisper about. But that man did.
Dear sir, thank you for your kindness. Thank you for reminding me that beauty comes in all forms, and for helping make the world a gentler place. ❤️
