A week ago, my mom was out of town, so my dad and I decided to eat at a restaurant since neither of us is very good at cooking. I ordered a Masala Dosa, and while waiting for the food, my dad and I had a 20-minute video call with my mom.
Finally, the food arrived. I had just taken a couple of bites when I noticed a hair strand in the Sambhar. It was really disgusting. I showed it to my dad and was about to call the waiter to get it replaced, but my dad suddenly came up with a clever idea.
He told me to add a lot of salt to the Sambhar before calling the waiter. His logic was simple: if I just complained about the hair, the restaurant might remove the hair and send the same Sambhar back. But if the dish was too salty, they would have no choice but to prepare a completely new one.
I followed his advice and added a generous amount of salt. Then we called the waiter and asked for a replacement. Both my dad and I were excited to see if the trick would work.
After a little while, the waiter brought a fresh bowl of Sambhar— and guess what? It was way saltier than the original one! Our plan had worked perfectly. My dad was smiling like a little kid, super proud of his clever hack. I was honestly amazed.
Later, we even told the waiter the whole story. He got a bit defensive, but it didn’t really matter. What mattered was the genius life hack I learned from my dad that day.
And here’s a picture of my awesome dad— the mastermind behind the plan.
