What are some famous actors who refused to work with other famous actors? Why would they do this?

When then-comedian Steve Martin was interviewed in Playboy Magazine in January 1980, he spoke extensively of his popular appearances on television’s “Saturday Night Live” program.

Since both Martin and the SNL team of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd were at the time of the interview in the process of transitioning from television and stand-up comedy appearances to careers in motion pictures, the interviewer asked Martin whether he’d be interested in collaborating in a movie with either Aykroyd or Belushi, or both.

Martin replied that he’d be willing to work with the dedicated, disciplined Aykroyd on any type of project whatever—movies, TV, stand-up, or music. But, he continued, he couldn’t imagine any future collaborations with John Belushi. And that was that.

Martin refused to elaborate on his reasons for not wanting to work or perform with Belushi in future projects. But, of course, a little over two years later, the out-of-control, drug-addicted John Belushi was dead from a speedball—a lethal combination of heroin and cocaine.
