Nazi did not strip their victims naked randomly but with a calculated reason as to why they were executed naked. It was one of their major strategies and played a pivotal role in their strategy.
The main aim was to destroy the identity of the victim. We wear clothes to depict our occupation, society status and individual fashion. When an individual was stripped in front of his or her killers, it was no longer, but a mere body. The humiliation and the shock rendered them feeling powerless and not that probable to fight or resist.
Nazis frequently lied in the gas chambers by informing their victims that they were taking them to a shower. This act of taking off the clothes made this lie realistic until the gas was emitted.
Also practical issues compelled the Nazis to strip victims. The workers could move, handle and dispose of naked bodies easily- into pits or ovens. It also prevented individuals hiding knives and other weapons that could be used to run or combat.
Lastly, the Nazis aimed at causing profit of all items that the victims possessed. Teeth and everything were gathered, sorted and sent back to Germany to be reused or sold again, and cruelty was combined with efficient theft.
