When A Streetcar Named Desire was being filmed, Marlon Brando knew only too well that Vivien Leigh was married to Laurence Olivier.
Bearing in mind that he was attracted to women, Brando decided against pursuing Vivien Leigh. He admired Laurence Olivier too much and didn’t wish to cause any complications.
After initially keeping their distance from each other, Brando and Leigh got on very well throughout the filming.
