This is a story about two sisters

This is the story of two sisters, Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac, both talented actresses from France.

Catherine Deneuve, seen on the left in the picture, was born in 1943. She grew to become an international film icon, admired for her elegance and powerful screen presence. Over the years, she appeared in several American films and worked with many famous actors, including Jack Lemmon, Burt Reynolds, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon.

Her older sister, Françoise Dorléac, was born in 1942. She, too, was a gifted actress with a bright future. Françoise acted alongside major stars such as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Michael Caine, and Gene Kelly. Many believed she was on the path to becoming just as internationally famous as Catherine.

But tragedy struck before she could reach that level of success.

In 1967, Françoise was in France and needed to catch a plane to continue filming Billion Dollar Brain with Michael Caine. She drove at high speed to make it to the airport on time. Unfortunately, she lost control of her car. The vehicle flipped over and caught fire. Françoise was trapped by her seatbelt and was unable to escape. She died in the flames, at only 25 years old. She was identified only through the documents she had with her.

That same year, the sisters appeared together in their iconic musical film Les Demoiselles de Rochefort. It became the last movie they ever shared, as Françoise passed away shortly after its release.

Their story remains one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking chapters in French cinema history.
