Julian Lennon, John Lennon’s son

Julian Lennon, the son of John Lennon from the Beatles, shared a heart-warming moment on Saturday. He was waiting in an airport lounge when he unexpectedly ran into his father’s old Beatles bandmate, Sir Paul McCartney.

Julian was surprised and happy to see him. He even called him “Uncle Paul,” a nickname he has used since childhood.

What made the meeting even more special was this:
When Julian walked up to Paul, Paul was listening to a song from Julian’s new album “Jude” on his phone at that exact moment. Julian took a picture of Paul pointing to his phone screen, showing he was actually listening to Julian’s music. Julian called it an unbelievable coincidence and said he felt grateful for the moment.

Why the Album Is Called “Jude”

Julian’s new album is named “Jude” for a very emotional reason.

Many people know the Beatles song “Hey Jude”, which Paul McCartney wrote in 1968. But originally, it wasn’t called “Hey Jude.” Paul wrote it as “Hey Jules” — for young Julian, who was only 5 years old at that time.

Paul wrote the song to comfort Julian because his parents, John Lennon and Cynthia Lennon, were separating after John began his relationship with Yoko Ono. Paul felt bad for Julian and wanted to cheer him up. Later, he changed the title from “Hey Jules” to “Hey Jude” because it sounded better.

Because the song was written for him during a painful time in his life, Julian later chose to name his album “Jude” as a way of accepting his past and honoring the history behind that famous song.

A Full-Circle Moment

Today, Paul McCartney is 80 years old, and Julian Lennon is 59.
Seeing Paul—who wrote “Hey Jude” for him decades ago—listening to Julian’s own album called Jude felt like a beautiful, full-circle moment.

Julian shared the pictures online, and fans all over the world loved the emotional connection and the deep history between them.
