But on August 13, 2025, our lives were shattered in an instant. A stray bullet—an act of senseless violence—struck our innocent child and caused severe brain injury. Our baby fought bravely for two days in the hospital. We held on to hope, prayed with every breath, and begged for a miracle. But on August 15, 2025, Rayyan could not fight anymore.
Just weeks before, we had been preparing for his first birthday—planning a celebration full of balloons, toys, and joy. We never imagined that instead of celebrating his life, we would be preparing for his funeral. The pain is something we cannot describe, and life will never be the same again. We move through each day because we have to, not because it gets easier.
