The last 24 hours have really shown me why my wife is the best.
We woke up before 3 AM to catch a 7:00 AM flight. By the time we got to Spokane International Airport, everything was a mess. It was immediately clear we had almost no chance of making our flight. Since we were traveling internationally to Morocco, the kiosks wouldn’t let us print our boarding passes, so we got stuck in the dreaded “problem passengers” line. We waited there for more than three hours before we finally reached an agent.
While we were waiting, an elderly woman collapsed and fainted. Our agent rushed over to help her and stayed by her side until the ambulance arrived.
Not long after that, the woman standing next to us was trying to rebook a flight for her child but didn’t have enough money with her. Her wallet was in her car, and if she went back to get it, her child would miss the flight. She looked like she was about to cry.
I reached for my wallet to help—but my wife was faster. She immediately offered to cover the extra fee and completely refused to be reimbursed. We didn’t give our names and stayed anonymous. We just wished her child a safe flight.
And the best part? Despite all the chaos and delays, we still ended up making all our flights anyway.
