Ashton is a caring, gentle, and energetic boy who loves playing football and basketball. He’s happy to be back at school with his friends and enjoys spending time with his two younger sisters at home.
In September 2022, when Ashton was just 6 years old, he was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of blood cancer. He and his mom had to move almost two hours away from home to get the treatment he needed. For the next two years, they spent a lot of time in the hospital while Ashton went through very strong chemotherapy, the kind usually made for adults.
The treatment worked, but it came with many difficult side effects. Ashton lost the ability to walk twice because of nerve damage, lost his hair, and had to be rushed to the hospital many times with high fevers.
Since finishing treatment, Ashton has been recovering and is starting to do better, but his journey isn’t over yet. He still has stomach pain often and gets regular checkups and blood tests to make sure his health stays steady.
