Angela Hansen from Layton, Utah, has faced more heartbreak than most people could ever imagine.
On July 4, 2023, her husband Kyley Hansen tragically drowned during a family pool party. He left behind Angela and their young children.
Just two years later, another unthinkable tragedy struck. On Friday, September 5, 2025, Angela’s 22-month-old daughter, Ada, was hit and killed by a truck at a car wash while Angela was cleaning out the family van.
How the Accident Happened
Angela had parked her van near a playground area at the Shiny Shell Carwash. Her two little girls — Ada (22 months) and her 4-year-old sister — were playing nearby while Angela cleaned the van.
At one point, Ada called out to her mom. Her older sister lovingly took her hand and started walking her back toward the van.
Just then, a truck parked nearby began to move forward — and hit Ada.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene. Ada was flown to a hospital in critical condition but, sadly, she did not survive.
The Aftermath
The truck was driven by an 18-year-old young man, who stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with police. Authorities have described it as a tragic accident, not a crime.
Angela’s sister, Lauren Paskett, said the family holds no anger toward the driver:
“We need to support both sides. I feel so sad for him, knowing he has to carry this for the rest of his life. We want peace for everyone, and we forgive him.”
Angela’s 4-year-old daughter witnessed the accident and has been deeply traumatized, saying she tried to stop it but “he didn’t see.”
A Mother’s Double Loss
For Angela, Ada was more than her youngest child — she was “the last piece” of her late husband Kyley.
Now, she is planning Ada’s funeral and hopes to bury her little girl beside her father.
The family says they are completely heartbroken but are trying to focus on love, forgiveness, and healing.
