Once upon a time, there was a man who lived alone with his beloved dog. The two were inseparable — wherever the man went, the dog followed. They shared everything: their meals, their walks, and even their quiet evenings together. The dog wasn’t just a pet; he was the man’s most faithful friend, his only family, his companion through every season of life.
One day, the man fell seriously ill. Despite all the efforts, he passed away peacefully, leaving behind his loyal dog. When the man’s son came to handle the funeral, he also took the dog home with him, hoping to give it a new life. But the dog didn’t seem happy — he missed his master deeply.
A few days later, the son noticed the dog was gone. He searched everywhere but couldn’t find him. Then, a call came from the cemetery. The caretaker said, “Sir, a dog has been digging on your father’s grave.” The son rushed there and saw the poor dog sitting beside the grave, his paws covered in dirt, his eyes full of sadness. The son gently took the dog back home.
The next day, the same thing happened. The dog had run away and returned to the cemetery, lying down on his master’s grave. Once again, the son brought him back. But on the third day, the dog escaped yet again — returning faithfully to the same place, as if saying, “This is where I belong.”
Realizing how much his father meant to the dog, the son decided to let him stay. He brought food and water, hoping the dog would eat. But the loyal creature refused everything. He didn’t want food or comfort — all he wanted was to be close to his master one last time.
Day and night, the dog guarded the grave. He barked at anyone who came too near, protecting the resting place of the man who had loved him most. For seven days, he stayed there — through rain, through cold, without a single bite to eat. And then, quietly, one morning… he lay down beside the grave and never woke up again.
When the cemetery caretaker found him, the dog’s body was lying right on top of his master’s grave — as if he had finally reunited with him, never to be apart again.
